Your suite warranty starts the day you take possession, so even though the building is finished, your coverage begins fresh and runs its full length from your closing date. It covers workmanship, materials and Building Code compliance for the first year; water penetration and the heating, plumbing and electrical systems for two years; and major structural defects for seven, with coverage on work and materials up to $300,000.

The shared spaces, including the corridors, elevators, amenities and parking garage, carry their own common elements warranty, which began when the condominium was registered and is managed by the condominium corporation on behalf of all owners.
